Who We Are

Raben is a public policy, strategic communications, and organizational consulting firm. We were founded with a lofty goal and an audacious spirit: to make our nation greater by helping to shift public policy in a sensible, humane direction. We work intimately with policymakers and influencers in the nonprofit, corporate, foundation, and government sectors to identify shared interests, forge new connections, tackle our country’s most intractable problems, and uplift new generations of leaders and activists.

Now 80+ strong with offices across the country, we are proudly majority-minority, majority women, with a significant LGBTQ+ cohort. We are immigrants, we are disabled, and we are religious minorities. We bring our full selves to our work, and our varying backgrounds and experiences allow us to offer a unique and often untold perspective to public policy, imbuing us with the fierce urgency of now – we power good work.

What We Seek

We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious intern to support our firm’s Strategy & Impact team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the internal strategic planning, evaluation, and organizational learning processes that guide our firm’s growth and deepen our impact.

As an intern, you will work directly with the ChiefClient Services Officer and Director of Strategy & Impact, supporting high-level efforts to develop the firm's strategic framework, assess outcomes, and help teams connect their day-to-day work to the bigger picture of our impact. You’ll assist with research, organizing information, supporting strategy and evaluation projects, and internal consulting with Raben’s Executive Leadership team — making this a great fit for someone with a passion for systems thinking, organizational effectiveness, and equity-centered evaluation.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and support the design of processes for internal strategic planning, firm-wide goal setting, and organizational evaluation.
  • Assist in identifying and developing quantitative and qualitative metrics to assess progress toward strategic goals.
  • Support the development of internal tools to measure and communicate impact across teams and projects.
  • Contribute to post-engagement evaluations of client work, including internal interviews and case study development.
  • Track and synthesize field-wide trends in strategy, evaluation, and equity-centered organizational design.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling, note-taking, and documentation.
  • Help manage and update the firm’s CRM system used to track case study development, including organizing project information, monitoring progress, and supporting the preparation of finalized case studies for all-staff access.
Requirements
  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor's program, preferably in Public Policy, Political Science, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in organizational strategy, evaluation, and impact measurement — particularly in mission-driven or equity-focused settings.
  • Strong research, analysis, and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with evaluation or project management tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Willingness to learn and engage with internal leadership at all levels of the firm.
  • Please indicate in your application whether you will receive academic credit for this internship.
Schedule

This is a temporary position with a flexible schedule, offering a minimum of 20 hours a week. The internship duration will be approximately 14 weeks with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. All hired interns must be physically present in the DC office at least twice per week.
