The Community Affairs Strategist reports to the Director, Community Affairs and is responsible for managing and advancing programs that strengthen associate engagement, community impact, and corporate citizenship across GEICO. Working closely with Community Affairs leadership, Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders, nonprofit partners, communications teams, and business stakeholders, this role supports the planning and execution of GEICO's engagement initiatives, including volunteer programs, philanthropic activities, and community partnerships that make a difference in the offices where we live, work and play.
This role serves as a trusted project lead and thought partner within Community Affairs, helping translate strategy into execution while building strong relationships with leaders, partners, and stakeholders across the enterprise.
The successful candidate is a highly organized, agile generalist who can operate independently, represent the function effectively in meetings, and grow into broader leadership responsibilities over time.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of experience in community affairs, volunteerism, philanthropy, corporate social impact, communications, project management, or a related field.
Demonstrated success managing projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing presentations, executive updates, and stakeholder-facing communications.
Proven ability to build productive relationships, influence outcomes, and work effectively across internal teams and external organizations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data and feedback into actionable recommendations.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Copilot, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and collaboration tools.
Hybrid work environment (three days onsite per week), with occasional travel for community events, volunteer activities, partner meetings, and organizational gatherings. Flexibility to support select engagement activities outside standard business hours as needed. Chicago preferred.
Annual Salary $86,100.00 - $141,450.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
