Job summary

JRC in Groton, CT is seeking a Strategic Weapons Systems Project Officer to lead shipyard installation and test of the SWS on the Columbia-class program, interfacing with PAESSP, Electric Boat, NAVSEA and contractors.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (ABET) or equivalent experience, 8+ years in SWS, and a DoD security clearance; duties include technical liaison, reviews, and leading cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience.
• 8+ years of SWS experience.
• Active DoD security clearance at SECRET level or above (or held recently).
• Familiarity with SSP culture, PAESSP, Electric Boat, NAVSEA and related stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage and lead the SWS teams in shipyard installation and test.
• Lead problem-solving efforts to meet PAESSP requirements during SSBN construction.
• Provide knowledge of SWS, SSP testing, systems engineering, and process improvement.
• Provide technical guidance in design reviews, trade studies, and technical meetings.
• Act as liaison between PAESSP, Electric Boat, contractors, and field activities.
• Plan, attend and participate in planning, status meetings, conferences, and communicate milestones.
• Lead shipyard installation testing and manage the SWS test program execution.
• Format specifications, directives, and correspondence per Navy manual.
