Job summary

Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Clinical Development - Cardiovascular to lead the clinical strategy for Phase 4 and post-marketing programs, guiding CV outcomes studies and biomarker-driven plans.

This hands-on VP role reports to senior leadership and coordinates with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Research teams. The successful candidate will be a board-certified cardiologist with extensive biopharma experience, driving portfolio decisions and lifecycle management

Qualifications

• MD, board-certified cardiologist
• Experience leading late-stage and Phase 4 cardiovascular programs
• Deep expertise in cardiovascular disease and lipid disorders
• Experience with regulatory interactions

Responsibilities

• Maintain broad, integrative view across cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease
• Guide development of lipid-modifying therapies and endpoints
• Provide leadership on cardiovascular outcomes trials (CVOTs) and analyses
• Translate mechanistic and translational science into clinical development strategy
• Lead Phase 4 strategy and post-marketing evidence generation
• Partner with Medical Affairs to optimize clinical development partnerships
• Interact with regulatory agencies and external experts
• Manage and develop direct reports to build a high-performing team
