Job summary

Principal Asset Management seeks an experienced U.S. small- and mid-cap Financials Equity Analyst to join our research team. You will work with portfolio managers and sector analysts to deliver proprietary research and investment recommendations.

You will build detailed financial models, generate ideas, and communicate insights through reports and presentations, maintaining coverage across financials for multiple portfolios.

Qualifications

• 5+ years equity investment experience in financials, preferably with at least 2 years on the buyside.
• U.S. small- and mid-cap financials sector research experience.
• Experience across banks, P&C and/or life insurance, asset/alternative managers, and diversified financials.
• Proven alpha generation through actively covered investment recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled research tools to enhance idea generation and due diligence.
• Ability to distill industry data and trends into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Generate alpha through proprietary analysis of US small- and mid-cap financials.
• Interact with management, industry experts, and stakeholders for high-conviction insights.
• Collaborate with team leads and PMs to drive stock selection within process constraints.
• Build and maintain financial models forecasting performance and valuation.
• Communicate insights via written reports, models, presentations, and investment committee talks.
• Maintain research coverage of existing financials investments across portfolios.
