Job summary

City of Grand Rapids is seeking an administrative support professional to manage projects, act as staff liaison to departments and outside agencies, and assist in departmental initiatives. The role reports to the Transportation Planning Supervisor and will supervise interns and seasonal staff.

The position involves GIS analysis, data collection, and preparing reports, with collaboration across internal and external partners to advance transportation planning projects and budgets.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in urban & regional planning, urban design, transportation engineering, public administration or related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible planning-related experience.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists with GIS analysis, transportation project analysis and prioritization.
• Participates in planning audits and studies for roadway, transit, bicycle, pedestrian projects.
• Researches and analyzes data for transportation planning solutions.
• Develops and implements technical tools based on industry best practices.
• Prepares informational materials, presentations and reports for the Department.
• Collaborates with partners to develop transportation planning projects and cost estimates.
• Assists in policy formulation, budget matters and liaison with departments/agencies.
• Represents the Department to Mobile GR Commission and public bodies.
• Coordinates interdepartmental projects and program changes.
• Researches grant opportunities, acquires funds and manages grants.
