Job summary

Case Western Reserve University is seeking an Assistant Director of Sustainability to provide strategic leadership and oversight for campus sustainability initiatives. The role advances the university’s strategic sustainability vision through policies, programs, and performance improvement.

The position leads planning, coordination, and performance management of core Office of Energy and Sustainability programs, engaging senior administrators and representing the university in sustainability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, sustainability, or a related field.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license required.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and translate vision into measurable outcomes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and programs in higher education or related sectors.

Responsibilities

• Leads cross-functional strategic sustainability initiatives aligned with the Climate Action Plan.
• Oversees materials management, waste reduction programs, and benchmarking efforts.
• Directs student engagement programs and workforce development of ~12 student staff annually.
• Directs benchmarking, reporting, and data-driven decision making for sustainability reporting.
• Develops strategic communications and engages campus partners to drive behavior change.
