Job summary

Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago is seeking a Purchasing Department leader to supervise staff, manage procurement for the property, and drive cost-effective purchasing strategies. You will oversee schedules, budgets, and vendor negotiations to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal contract terms.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least five years in purchasing, with strong Microsoft Office skills and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Five years’ experience in the Purchasing field with progressively more challenging roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, etc.).
• Proven ability to delegate and lead a team in an effective and efficient manner.
• Must be fluent and literate in English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage staff in the Purchasing department.
• Develop, implement, and manage operational goals and monitor achievements of performance and profit objectives.
• Create effective and efficient schedules while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives, and achieving deadlines.
• Assist in the budget process for the department and provide recommendations; ensure compliance to budget initiatives; report budget concerns.
• Manage procurement and deliveries of materials, supplies, and equipment for one casino within the brand.
• Monitor and support the property’s diversity spend initiatives.
• Negotiate with vendors for goods and services; negotiate the best possible price and service guarantees.
• Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
• Audit blanket purchase orders and releases against blanket requisitions.
• Ensures regulatory compliance within area of authority and reports issues to Executive Management/GM.
