Job summary

Oregon Freeze Dry is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials and packaging, partnering with Operations, R&D, and Quality to support product commercialization while driving supplier performance and cost improvements.

You will consolidate suppliers, manage risk, monitor on-time delivery and quality, negotiate contracts, and collaborate to qualify new materials.

Qualifications

• Extensive sourcing expertise in supplier selection and cost optimization.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills for risk, cost, quality, and inventory metrics.
• Understanding of inventory management, manufacturing processes, and operational workflows for optimization.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office; cross-functional collaboration in dynamic environments.
• Preferred certification such as ISM CPSM or equivalent.

We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our Procurement team. This position is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and competitive supply base for raw materials and packaging. This role partners closely with Operations, R&D, and Quality to support product commercialization while driving supplier performance, contract optimization, and continuous cost improvement.

You will get to:

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support company objectives for quality, cost, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support product commercialization through timely and cost-effective sourcing strategies.
• Strategically consolidate the supplier base to leverage purchasing power and improve commercial terms.
• Proactively minimize supply interruptions by utilizing a risk-based approach to diversifying the supplier network.
• Monitor supplier performance using key metrics, including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness and service levels, working with suppliers to achieve improved service levels and meet company targets.
• Collaborate with suppliers to identify opportunities for cost reductions, process improvements, rebates and additional commercial concessions.
• Recommend sourcing actions based on current as well as forecasted market conditions such as commodity changes and tariffs to proactively manage impact on business.
• Collaborate with R&D and Quality to evaluate and qualify new materials and packaging technologies.
• Collaborate with suppliers to identify opportunities to reduce costs in the system.
• Represent the company at trade shows, supplier meetings, and industry events to expand sourcing opportunities and strengthen supplier relationships.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using change management tools and methodologies.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to issue resolution and dashboard reporting.
• Engage in professional development through continuing education and industry networking (e.g., ISM, APICS).
• Ensure compliance with SQF, FDA, and USDA regulations.
• Understand long-term organizational goals and contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives that align with broader business objectives.
• Have regular and reliable attendance on a full-time basis.
• Be responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflect positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
• Embody OFD’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department and company culture.
  

We are looking for someone who has:

• Extensive sourcing expertise with proven success in supplier selection, contract negotiation and supplier performance management.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with the ability to assess supply chain risk, evaluate cost, quality, and inventory metrics, and develop actionable sourcing strategies.
• Solid understanding of inventory management, manufacturing processes, and operational workflows to optimize sourcing and supply chain performance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and digital tools, with the ability to manage multiple sourcing initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and process improvements in dynamic environments.
• Excellent communication and partnership -building skills; professional certification such as ISM CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or equivalent preferred.
