Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Manager - Fasteners is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies, methodologies, and best procurement practices to achieve continuous supply and optimized inventory levels for the HYTORC Fastener Product Category. This role leverages extensive product knowledge and experience in the Industrial Fastener category to identify and implement industry best practices from design to manufacturing, ensuring a robust and cost-competitive supply chain. Additionally, the Strategic Sourcing Manager - Fasteners leads a team of Procurement agents in tactical procurement execution and vendor management to ensure continuous supply and optimized inventory levels aligned with production and sales goals in a dynamic market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Strategic Sourcing Manager - Fasteners utilizes extensive product and procurement knowledge to source Fasteners at favorable prices and terms for HYTORC Industrial Bolting Systems, while supervising and guiding Procurement agents in their tasks for assigned vendors. The role involves building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers and internal/external stakeholders to ensure continuous supply and optimized inventory levels for HYTORC.

  • Responsible for procurement and purchasing activities for the HYTORC Fastener Category. Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders.
  • Develop and implement purchasing plans and inventory targets for the Fastener Category.
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the efforts of Procurement Agents in direct tactical procurements within the Fastener Category.
  • Report and coordinate suggested adjustments to work distribution to the Procurement Department Manager for review and implementation.
  • Lead procurement cross-functional engagement with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, Quality, and other departments in support of the Fastener Category.
  • Proactively support Sales to confirm purchasing requirements, ensuring timely procurement to meet customer needs.
  • Ensure all contract procedures (HYTORC Terms and Conditions and SOPs) are followed and executed professionally.
  • Maintain records of business transactions, inventories, and reporting data to companies or government agencies as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of procurement agents.

Education/Experience Required

  • Post-secondary diploma and/or equivalent work experience in materials management or business.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in industrial engineering and manufacturing of Fastener products.
  • Familiarity with standard procurement concepts and best practices.
  • Good understanding of logistics methods and import/customs procedures.

Computer Skills Necessary

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Strong emphasis on Excel macros and SSRS reporting methodology.
  • Experience with SAP and other ERP systems is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with project management and analytics systems is a plus.
