Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a VP, Professional Services Category & Sourcing Lead for a 6–12 month engagement in the Boston area. Hybrid role with 1–2 days onsite in Quincy; remote may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

You will lead end-to-end sourcing across Professional Services, manage RFPs, negotiate terms, and coordinate with Legal on SOWs and NDAs. This role requires extensive strategic-sourcing experience and the ability to handle 30–45 tickets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
• Strong experience sourcing Professional Services.
• Experience in Consulting, Marketing, HR, or Legal categories.
• Contract review, redlining, and commercial negotiations experience.
• Leading RFPs/RFx and competitive sourcing events.
• Strong supplier negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Ability to manage 30–45 sourcing tickets concurrently.

Job description

Job Title: VP, Professional Services Category & Sourcing Lead

Duration: 6–12 months, with potential extension

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard U.S. business hours; 8:00 or 9:00 AM ET start preferred

Work Arrangement: Hybrid preferred — 1–2 days onsite in Quincy; Boston office also acceptable. Remote may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

Pay Rate: $75–$80/hr, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities across Professional Services categories.
• Manage sourcing initiatives, RFPs, RFx events, competitive bids, and supplier negotiations.
• Review and redline contracts, commercial terms, deliverables, NDAs, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
• Partner with Legal and internal stakeholders to address contractual, compliance, and commercial requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, rate cards, discounts, terms, and supplier agreements.
• Manage multiple sourcing initiatives simultaneously, often handling approximately 30–45 sourcing tickets.
• Work on sourcing engagements ranging from smaller initiatives to complex agreements valued up to $50M.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
• Strong experience sourcing Professional Services.
• Experience with one or more of the following categories: Consulting, Marketing, HR, and Legal.
• Strong hands‑on experience with contract review, redlining, and commercial negotiations.
• Proven experience leading RFPs/RFx and competitive sourcing events.
• Strong supplier negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sourcing initiatives and competing priorities.
