Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Hardware Strategic Sourcing Manager to own sourcing strategy for fiber and optical interconnect components across its AI infrastructure. You will develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and work with engineering across multiple disciplines to meet performance and scale goals.

You will lead RFx activities, cost modeling, and capacity planning while negotiating long-term agreements that ensure supply resilience and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in strategic sourcing or supply-chain leadership in optical/hardware domains.
• Experience sourcing fiber-optic components, cables, connectors, or related assemblies.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements and establish supplier partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive sourcing strategy for fiber and optical interconnect components.
• Lead RFIs, RFPs, RFQs and supplier evaluations, balancing performance, cost and supply security.
• Collaborate with engineering to translate system requirements into sourcing plans and capacity needs.
