Job summary

SpaceX's Sourcing Manager, Mechanical Commodities (Starlink) based in Redmond, WA, onsite, leads sourcing for Starlink satellites, subsystems, and ground stations with suppliers and internal teams to optimize cost, delivery, and performance.

You will mentor the team, provide weekly status reports, and develop capital and production purchasing plans while focusing on total cost of ownership across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in engineering, purchasing, or supply chain roles.
• Experience with contract negotiation and supplier management.
• Experience with master production scheduling and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the supply base to support sourcing for Starlink satellites, subsystems and ground stations.
• Provide weekly team status reporting to management.
• Train and mentor the team to ensure continuous improvement.
• Work with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on capital purchases and production consumables.
• Analyze production equipment to identify opportunities for cost, space, and process optimization.
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value, lower risk, and manage delivery.
• Build and own project budgets and capitalization plan based on TCO.
• Conduct market analysis and benchmarking for assigned categories.
• Communicate equipment status to management including schedules and risks.
• Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk and ensure on-time delivery.
• Foster cross-functional relationships to achieve consensus.
• Present value propositions to executives on contracts and cost reductions.
