DeepMind Mountain View, as part of Google DeepMind, seeks a Share Strategic Sourcing Engineer to drive hardware sourcing strategies for core products and scale-up efforts.

You will work closely with Engineering to influence design decisions, manage end-to-end supplier relationships, and enable rapid prototyping and production-ready execution across hardware programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Supply Chain, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years in sourcing, commodity management, supplier engineering, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, or related hardware function.
  • Experience sourcing and evaluating hardware components, assemblies, or processes and supplier capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own commodity sourcing strategies, building deep expertise in technology, manufacturing, supplier landscape, cost, and market dynamics.
  • Partner with Engineering to evaluate suppliers based on capability, manufacturability, quality, cost, and scalability.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing and commercial execution: market analysis, RFIs/RFQs, evaluation, cost modeling, and negotiations for favorable terms.
  • Build a resilient global supplier ecosystem by assessing capability, financial health, capacity, and sub-tier risk.
  • Drive supplier performance and continuous improvement from development through production with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in sourcing, commodity management, supplier engineering, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, or a related hardware function.
  • Experience sourcing and managing hardware components, assemblies, or manufacturing processes, and experience evaluating supplier technical and manufacturing capabilities.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience leading supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, cost analysis, commercial negotiations, and supplier development across the hardware product lifecycle.
  • Experience partnering with engineering and manufacturing teams during product development, NPI, supplier qualification, and production ramp.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As a Strategic Sourcing Engineer, you will execute sourcing strategies for critical hardware commodities supporting development and scale-up.   • Develop and own commodity sourcing strategies, building deep expertise in technology, manufacturing, the supplier landscape, cost, and market dynamics—translating roadmaps into supplier strategies from R&D through production scale.
  • Partner with Engineering across the product lifecycle to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on technical capability, manufacturability, quality, cost, and scalability.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing and commercial execution: market analysis, RFIs/RFQs, technical/commercial evaluation, cost modeling, and negotiations—securing advantageous terms on price, NRE/tooling, lead time, capacity, and cost reduction.
  • Build a resilient global supplier ecosystem by assessing capability, financial health, capacity, and sub-tier risk—mitigating supply risk through supplier development, alternate sourcing, and partnerships.
  • Drive supplier performance and continuous improvement from development through production, partnering with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing on qualification, NPI, cost reduction, and issue resolution to support execution and roadmaps.
