Job summary

Arbor Academy is seeking a Principal to lead the educational program and administration of the Academy, implementing policies and coordinating instructional leadership, budgeting, discipline, and counseling services.

The role requires a Master’s degree and Michigan administrator credentials, plus several years of public-school leadership experience. Strong collaboration with the board, authorizer, and community is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required or higher.
• Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate or permit.
• Meets No Child Left Behind highly qualified requirements.
• Minimum of five years in public schools.
• Minimum of four years in school administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, high-quality instruction aligned to Michigan Core Standards.
• Lead staff, manage operations, and enforce academy policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes and board policies.
• Provide leadership to staff for enrichment programs and student development.
• Oversee discipline programs to maintain a safe, orderly climate.
• Review lesson plans, grade books, and attendance for standards compliance.
• Follow performance management and appraisal policies for personnel.
• Encourage staff participation in professional development activities.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and academy information.
• Maintain positive relations with board, authorizer, parents and community.
• Collaborate on personnel, budgeting, scheduling, and facilities with staff.
• Participate in parent meetings and mediate between parents and teachers.
• Ensure routine paperwork is completed (attendance, tests, licensing).
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs to school property.
• Collaborate with other principals to align curriculum with standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
