Job summary

UW–Madison seeks a Director of Research in the Department of Medicine Office of Research Services to provide executive leadership for the research portfolio. The role translates strategic priorities into effective programs, processes, and operations, partnering with department leadership, faculty, and external stakeholders.

The position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and is a key spokesperson for research.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years managing complex research portfolios.
• 5+ years pre- and post-award research administration oversight.
• Experience with large center/program grants and training.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a complex, matrixed research portfolio across departments.
• Develop and audit research program budgets and policies.
• Advise leadership on strategic planning and resources.
• Oversee research events and grantsmanship training.
• Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups.
