Job summary

The Tech7 Company is seeking a Strategic Requirements Systems Engineer to join our team onsite in El Segundo, CA. This role focuses on developing and managing MILSATCOM requirements and verification products for complex space systems.

Ideal candidates have DoD program experience, proficiency with DOORS, Jama, and Cameo, and strong technical writing skills to support government decision-making and program planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
• Eligible for Secret/TS/SCI Clearance.
• 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering.
• 5 years’ experience working on DoD programs.
• Direct experience developing or managing requirements and requirements verification products for complex systems.
• Strong familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (payloads, RF comms, power, GNC, thermal, propulsion, on-board C&DH).
• Ability to read and create schematics, interface diagrams, and data communication structures.
• Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Cameo).
• Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and maintain system requirements using DOORS to ensure alignment with mission objectives and standards.
• Evaluate requirements for quality, completeness, consistency, feasibility, testability, and compliance with requirements.
• Coordinate with government stakeholders and contractors to resolve gaps and ambiguities.
• Work with Configuration Management for ERBs and CCBs preparation.
• Identify requirement risks and drive technical issue resolution across teams.
• Support system integration and test activities with authoritative documentation.
• Analyze contractor deliverables to determine impacts on requirements, verification, and risk.
• Facilitate reviews and meetings to drive alignment and disposition of comments and actions.
• Ensure requirements stay synchronized with architecture models, interfaces, CONOPS, and test planning documents.
• Develop acquisition and technical documents for government decision making.
• Develop verification planning products and evidence expectations for requirements.
• Coordinate with teams to align verification activities with schedules and baseline constraints.
• Review verification artifacts to ensure acceptance criteria are met.

Tech7 is seeking a Strategic Requirements Systems Engineer to join our team. This position is performed onsite in El Segundo, CA.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (MSEIT) team in support of Space Systems Command (SSC) in El Segundo is seeking an individual to provide requirements development and management support for the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Capability area. The MILSATCOM portfolio of programs has an ongoing need for IA/Cybersecurity support, to meet the needs of our emerging next-generation protected SATCOM.

The MSEIT contract provides leading-edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) support for the U.S. Space Force’s SSC. We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art MILSATCOM systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, refine, and maintain system requirements using DOORS to ensure alignment with mission objectives, operational needs, acquisition strategy, and technical baseline priorities.
• Evaluate requirements for quality, completeness, consistency, feasibility, testability, and compliance with program standards, regulatory requirements, and systems engineering best practices.
• Coordinate and collaborate with government stakeholders, prime contractors, support contractors, and subject matter experts to resolve requirement gaps, conflicts, ambiguities, and implementation concerns.
• Work closely with the Configuration Management team in preparing for Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
• Identify requirements related risks and drive technical issue resolution across engineering teams.
• Support system integration and test activities by providing authoritative requirement documentation and clarification.
• Analyze contractor deliverables, technical proposals, and change packages to determine impacts to requirements, verification scope, interfaces, cost, schedule, and technical risk.
• Facilitate requirements reviews, working groups, and technical interchange meetings to drive stakeholder alignment and timely disposition of comments, issues, and action items.
• Ensure requirements products remain synchronized with architecture models, interface documentation, CONOPS, test planning products, and acquisition documentation.
• Develop acquisition and technical requirements-related briefings, plans, papers, and other documentation in support of government decision making.
• Develop and maintain verification planning products, including verification cross-reference matrices, verification approaches, success criteria, responsible organizations, and evidence expectations for assigned requirements.
• Coordinate with integration, test, cybersecurity, modeling, and subject matter expert teams to align verification activities with program schedules, test resources, operational scenarios, and technical baseline constraints.
• Review verification artifacts, test plans, procedures, analysis reports, and contractor-provided evidence to determine whether requirement verification intent and acceptance criteria are adequately addressed

• Ability to read and create schematics, interface diagrams, and data communication structures.
• Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Cameo).
• Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate ideas, recommendations and options to customers, senior leaders, and stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Due to security requirements, work is required to be performed on-site in a secure facility

Preferred:

• SECRET/TS/SCI clearance
• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
• 12+ years’ experience with space systems in support of space or ground segment development
• 12+ years’ experience in a space acquisitions environment
• Experience in satellite hardware and software development
• Proficient in usage of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools
• Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, INCOSE CSEP / ESEP / ASEP)
