Job summary

Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) is seeking a diligent Purchasing Specialist in Seattle, WA. The role manages purchase orders to minimize total costs and supports procurement for safe and efficient operations across the organization.

Minimum requirements include a 2-year degree and 2 years purchasing experience, plus strong verbal and written communication and professional, analytical thinking. This is a full-time, non-exempt on-site position with opportunities to improve processes and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related field, and 2 years purchasing experience.
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Highly professional, detailed individual with a high degree of emotional intelligence and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes Payment Request Forms (PRF) and Supply Request Forms (SRF).
• Researches non-urgent, unique orders to identify appropriate sources.
• Selects vendors based on comparison; negotiates as needed.
• Provides order status on outstanding orders to internal customers.
• Supports development of procedures to ensure compliance with general procurement standards for federal grants.
• Develops relationships with contractors and vendors to promote cost-efficient operations.
• Works with Purchasing Manager and finance teams to ensure compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
