Job summary

Cortec Corporation, located onsite in White Bear Lake, MN, seeks a Purchasing Manager to develop and execute a strategic sourcing plan that protects production continuity, controls costs, and maintains internal service levels. The role leads the Purchasing department and collaborates with other teams to secure material needs.

The position manages inventory targets, negotiates with suppliers, and ensures safety and regulatory compliance for chemical materials and packaging, with occasional travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 5+ years' experience in a purchasing role, including 2+ years of leadership experience.
• APICS, ISM, or NAPM certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads, develops, and evaluates the performance of Purchasing department staff.
• Researches, evaluates, and negotiates contracts with suppliers based on price, quality, service, reliability, and capabilities.
• Anticipates supply chain risks and builds contingency plans to protect material availability and production.
• Monitors inventory levels and reorder points to avoid stockouts or excess inventory.
• Analyzes market conditions, material costs, and supplier performance to inform sourcing decisions.
• Develops and implements purchasing policies, procedures, and contract management practices.
• Ensures compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements, including those for chemical raw materials and packaging.
• Maintains accurate material cost data in the ERP system and reports on significant cost trends.
