Job summary

Core & Main is seeking a procurement-focused professional to sustain proactive communication with management on purchasing and inventory decisions. You will generate performance insights on underperforming product lines and drive corrective action for optimal profitability.

Responsibilities include analyzing purchasing reports, negotiating with vendors, processing purchases, expediting orders, and maintaining accurate ship dates.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 or older.
• Must pass pre-employment assessments if applicable.
• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline with 2–5 years of experience; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA with 2–4 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate daily purchasing reports and prioritize purchase orders for optimal profitability and sales.
• Verify pricing and quantities with vendors; attach confirmations to POs and maintain confirmations records.
• Perform all purchase transactions for assigned categories.
• Manage Back Order Queue and Expedite Queue; keep field ship dates accurate with vendors.
• Conduct price discrepancy analysis with accounting partnerships and resolve issues.
• Aim for target freight levels to maximize margins based on management input.
• Evaluate and manage dead stock and aging inventory; maintain fill rates for categories.
• Negotiate prices with vendors and seek best pricing; source products/vendors as needed.
• Handle some commodity purchasing under the general direction of the Purchasing leader.
