Job summary

City of Sammamish seeks an experienced Communications Manager to lead a comprehensive program aligning with City and City Council priorities. The role shapes how the City communicates across media, digital channels, and public outreach.

The position oversees publication processes, press relations, and becomes the City’s spokesperson as appropriate, ensuring timely, accurate information for residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field and 7 years of experience in media relations, government relations, or communications strategy/management.
• Resident of Washington State.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and guides the work of contributors to achieve operational plans and results.
• Plans and assigns daily activities and deadlines to staff.
• Develops and maintains a master communication plan aligned with City initiatives.
• Informs Sammamish residents about city issues, actions, services, and emergencies.
