Job summary

The City of Marco Island is seeking an experienced budget analyst to support the annual operating and capital budgets under the Budget Manager. You will forecast revenues and expenditures, review department requests, prepare reports, and assist with year-end audit schedules, emphasizing GAAP and government budgeting.

Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years’ governmental accounting experience required; advanced Excel and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP and government budgeting practices.
• Ability to research, analyze, and present financial data clearly.
• Experience with governmental budgeting and accounting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, development, and review of the annual City budget.
• Forecast revenues and expenditures; interpret financial data; provide recommendations.
• Evaluate department budget requests and support long-range financial planning.
• Prepare narratives, spreadsheets, and summaries communicating financial performance.
• Prepare year-end audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.
