Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least four years in civic engagement/public affairs/policy/advocacy.
  • Experience in grassroots and grasstops advocacy and the legislative process.
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Experience supporting trainings for grassroots/grasstops advocates.
  • Willingness to travel quarterly within the U.S.
  • Strong commitment to international development and UNICEF USA mission.
  • Strategic communications background and tailored content development for diverse audiences.
  • Team player with interpersonal, relationship-building and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public affairs/advocacy campaigns (grassroots/grasstops).
  • Lead advocacy mobilization to build and manage adult advocate networks in key states.
  • Project-manage regional advocacy events and mobilizations with internal/external audiences.
  • Support training/preparation for advocates meeting with Congressional offices/ Hill Day.
  • Develop engagement materials and advocacy toolkits highlighting UNICEF's work.
  • Liaise across MarComms, Philanthropy and partners to integrate advocate networks.
  • Draft and send tailored external communications content to advocates.
  • Develop messaging for various networks/audiences to influence funding and policy.
  • Support reporting/analysis to inform strategies and KPIs.
  • Monitor political dynamics related to Congressional committees.
  • Backstop Director of Public Affairs and assist with strategy development.
  • Support other duties as assigned.
