Scale AI's Generative AI business is experiencing unprecedented growth, and our Safety and Adversarial organisation is at the heart of this expansion. As a Strategic Projects Lead (SPL), you will be a key member of our AI Red Team, dedicated to identifying and mitigating the risks associated with advanced language models and generative AI products. This is a multifaceted and demanding role, requiring you to wear many hats across various operational domains, from data analysis and technical investigation to report writing and stakeholder communication.

The ideal SPL possesses a strong entrepreneurial drive, thriving in ambiguity and embracing the challenge of diving deep into complex, often uncharted territory. We seek individuals who are not afraid to get their hands dirty, meticulously analyzing data and crafting solutions. You will:
  • Drive day to day progress on our most visible and high impact customer accounts
  • Understand customer requirements and design data taxonomy best suited to improving model performance based on customer needs
  • Build out pipeline infrastructure to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Assist in training, coaching, and managing dynamic teams of data contributors, subject matter experts and technical stakeholders
  • Build analytics to make data-driven decisions
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders (Engineering, Product, Operations, and Go-to-Market) to advance leading-edge LLMs globally.
  • Work hand in hand with data contributors to develop actionable insights for the leading AI labs
  • Be working with sensitive content matters in building towards a stronger, safer AI future
  • Learn new technologies quickly and develop safety materials that provide customers with clear, actionable insights.
Ideally, you’d have:
  • Strong technical background (a degree in engineering or computer science is ideal, and at minimum the role requires the ability to do data analytics using SQL or Python)
  • 0-1 years of experience developing product or operational processes or as a SWE
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to come up with creative solutions to complex, ambiguous operational problems
  • Entrepreneurial experience and mindset - you are excited about building things from scratch and are able to identify issues and execute quickly
  • Strong interest in frontier AI / ML technology and products e.g., staying up-to-date on the latest research in AI safety and adversarial machine learning, hands-on experience / experiments with AI products

$116,000 — $145,000 USD
