Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL seeks an Associate Director of Program Management & Business Development to lead strategic projects enabling new product launches. You will manage cross-functional teams, conduct due diligence, and support integration of opportunities aligned with strategy.

Role requires 10+ years in pharma, strong leadership, and robust negotiation and financial skills to drive high-impact deals and collaborations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Technical education background in Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Business; MBA preferred.
• Experience in pharmaceutical development and/or business development, including opportunity assessment.
• Effective in presenting to senior leadership.
• Ability to challenge project teams to deliver outcomes.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix setting.
• PM/leadership skills to evaluate opportunities and deliver analyses.
• Strong communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills in program and deal settings.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills for due diligence.
• Solid understanding of drug development, regulatory and commercialization processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain best-in-class program management and business development evaluation processes.
• Ensure programs meet timelines, budgets and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with functions to keep programs on track and resolve conflicts.
• Lead cross-functional teams for due diligence on new opportunities and propose recommendations.
• Manage interactions with external parties in BD, due diligence and partnerships.
• Contribute to negotiation of program partnerships and acquisitions.
• Prepare opportunity assessments and executive-level summaries.
• Deliver presentations to senior management to seek approvals.
