Qualifications

• Education: associate degree in business, purchasing or related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing/procurement.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of purchasing processes, market pricing and cost control methods.
• Interpersonal communication skills; problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software.
• May pursue CPPB/CPPO certification.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate with vendors; evaluate supplier performance.
• Review purchase requisitions; secure approvals and verify accuracy.
• Solicit quotes via telephone, written quotes, or formal bidding.
• Coordinate with departments on needs, quantities, and delivery requirements.
• Verify funds availability and proper coding; ensure compliant purchases.
• Develop supplier relationships and negotiate pricing within budget.
• Prepare purchase orders and process invoices; maintain records.
