Job summary

Encore Community Services in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Business and Procurement Manager to oversee the commissary kitchen contracts, purchasing operations, and supply chain management. This full-time role partners with program, finance, and operations teams to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate has a 3–5 year track record in procurement, a related bachelor’s degree, and strong contract negotiation, vendor management, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of procurement, purchasing, food service operations, or vendor management.
• Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
• Knowledge of food purchasing, inventory management, and procurement best practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to reduce costs.
• Evaluate pricing trends, vendor agreements, and purchasing practices.
• Develop competitive bidding and sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings.
• Standardize purchasing procedures to maximize economies of scale.
• Provide regular reporting on purchasing trends and vendor performance.
• Maintain procurement policies and procedures annually.
• Negotiate catering, food service, and supply contracts.
• Monitor vendor performance and contract compliance.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
• Research new vendors and sourcing opportunities.
• Oversee purchasing of raw food, disposable supplies, nutrition program, and office supplies.
• Coordinate purchasing schedules to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Review and approve purchase requests and invoices.
• Ensure purchasing complies with policies and funding requirements.
