Job summary

Explore Industries in Albany, NY, seeks a Procurement and Purchasing Specialist to manage sourcing and day-to-day purchasing for Albany operations. You will turn demand forecasts into practical buying plans, work with suppliers, and balance cost, quality, and lead time to support production.

The role requires five+ years in procurement/purchasing, ERP experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
• Five+ years in procurement, purchasing, or materials planning.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing purchase orders.
• Familiarity with ERP or purchasing systems and inventory planning.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills; turning data into recommendations.
• Excellent communication, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Manufacturing/durable goods experience preferred; CPSM/CSCP/CPIM a plus.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase materials, components, equipment, packaging, and services.
• Identify suppliers, obtain competitive pricing, and compare offers.
• Negotiate price, lead time, terms, and delivery to meet production needs.
• Convert forecasts and BOMs into purchasing plans.
• Create and manage purchase orders from release to receipt; expedite as needed.
• Maintain purchasing data in ERP and monitor material availability.
• Assist with supplier performance and resolve invoice issues.
