Job summary

The Washington Post is seeking a Procurement & Contracts Lead who will strengthen vendor decisioning and manage strategic sourcing across core spend areas. You will drive structured sourcing, negotiate terms, and deliver evidence‑based recommendations to renew, renegotiate, or replace arrangements.

You will partner with Finance, Legal, IT and business units to balance cost, service, risk and long‑term value while building scalable procurement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing and category‑management across high‑value spend areas.
• Develop category strategies aligned with financial, operational, technology, risk and business priorities.
• Assess vendors, tools and arrangements to meet organizational needs and drive value.
• Lead competitive sourcing processes, including market analysis, RFPs, bid evaluations and negotiations.
• Present recommendations to renew, renegotiate, consolidate, or replace major vendor arrangements.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers, improve service levels, reduce risk, and increase total value.
• Coordinate with Legal on contract language, redlines, compliance, data protection and IP.
• Maintain contract records, renewal calendars and support contract owners on obligations and pricing.
