Job summary

City University of New York's Graduate Center is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing and Contracts to lead the purchasing and contracting operations for the GC, Macaulay Honors College, and ASRC. The role reports to the VP for Finance and oversees staff and process improvements, ensuring compliance with NYS and NYC procurement rules.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree with eight years’ related experience, including public higher education, and hands-on knowledge of Jagger

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
• Solid understanding of contracting.
• From the 8 years of related work experience, 5 years of experience with New York State or New York City purchasing rules is preferred
• Previous experience in public higher education
• Knowledge of Jagger Purchasing system
• Working knowledge of Workday Financial System
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Manages Purchasing Office staff of three to generate and process purchase orders.
• Oversees purchases for GC, ASRC, and Macaulay budgets.
• Coordinates DASNY and GRTI processes and bid/doc preparation.
• Leads CUNYfirst (Peoplesoft) Purchasing Module projects and training.
• Ensures compliance with NYS and CUNY procurement regulations.
• Represents the Business Office in purchasing matters with college leaders.
• Manages Board Resolution process for contracts/purchases over thresholds.
• Leads procurement policies and reports to Vice President of Finance.
