Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a Buyer at our Technical Center in Tempe, AZ. This role interviews vendors, secures competitive bids, negotiates on price, quality, service and delivery, and awards contracts. The Buyer also consults on quality control and expediting critical items, using initiative and independent judgment to solve procurement challenges.

Requirements include two years of purchasing experience, familiarity with SAP and Excel, and the ability to read blueprints/drawings. Travel is less than 5%.

Qualifications

• Familiar with computerized purchasing systems.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Manufacturing or Production buying experience desired.
• Familiar with, or the ability to read blueprints/drawings.
• SAP experience.
• Self-starter.
• Proficient with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Execute purchase orders 30%
• Distribute RFQ's/RFP's 20%
• Expedite material/update/communicate procurement status 25%
