Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating, design-build integration, and early project design decisions.

You will serve as the primary contact for owners and design teams on select pursuits, and may support the Preconstruction Director on complex bids. You should bring 5+ years in estimating, design management, or field management with a strong grasp of construction principles, alternative delivery models, and GMP concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering and/or 5+ years in estimating/design/field management.
• In-depth knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Experience with alternative delivery projects, cost modeling, cost trending and GMPs.
• Experience estimating self-perform disciplines, including labor and material pricing.
• Proven experience managing preconstruction for a wide range of projects.
• Experience with subcontracts and self-perform work.
• Experience leading teams and maintaining external relationships.
• Self-starter with high motivation.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Aligns with McCarthy core values and adds value to preconstruction.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interviews and prepare for negotiated bids, acting as Bid Captain on pursuits and leading meetings.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Track and manage project budget.
• Prepare qualifications aligning with contractual obligations and submit for legal review.
• Implement and oversee reconstruction and construction schedule.
• Assist in training staff and manage risk including safety and EEO/AA programs.
• Manage and present documentation/deliverables to the project owner.
• Represent McCarthy at design and coordination meetings and advise on design choices.
• Participate in prequalification, responses to RFPs/RFQs, and manage buyout log and chart of accounts.
