Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Pharmacy Buyer to coordinate timely and accurate inventory of pharmacy and IV supplies. You will manage procurement, maintain stock levels, support barcoding, and optimize cost efficiency within the pharmacy system.

You will train and mentor staff on purchasing, review orders for contract compliance, and liaise with wholesalers and manufacturers to reduce emergency purchases while meeting regional inventory targets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of pharmacy experience.
• Pharmacy Technician: AR.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all pharmaceutical ordering for the Pharmacy Department through hospital pharmacy employees via non-stock requisitions and follow-up on items.
• Coordinates centralized purchasing for high-cost, low-use or nominally priced items for efficiency and savings.
• Procures emergency supplies involving suppliers and transportation; reviews back orders and sources from alternate vendors when needed.
• Reviews and approves orders with the Regional Procurement Manager to ensure contract compliance; shares information with pharmacy staff.
• Coordinates centralized procurement of medications in short supply via wholesaler or direct from the manufacturer.
• Meets regionally and system-wide set inventory turn rate goals.
