Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution invites applications for an Assistant Director to lead the Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP) in Washington, DC. You will plan, direct, and coordinate strategic initiatives with national museums, African American and diaspora cultural heritage organizations, and other partners; manage budgets and staff; and advance policy and outreach.

Qualifications

Specialized experience at GS-14 level or equivalent in museums/cultural heritage initiatives.
Experience developing strategic plans, grants, and outreach with stakeholders.
Ability to analyze budgets, prepare reports, and manage teams.

Responsibilities

Plan, direct and manage OSP strategic efforts to develop and strengthen NMAAHC and other national museums.
Act as liaison and negotiator on timelines, purchases, equipment and space.
Develop and finalize goals and objectives to support NMAAHC's mission and execute plans.
Deliver public services and collect/report NMAAHC data; write proposals and reports.
Represent policy initiatives for OSP and NMAAHC communities at meetings.
Develop partnerships and advise on communications, international relations, fellowships and visiting scholars.
