Job summary

MacDonald Illig Jones & Britton LLP seeks a Chief Operating Officer to lead the firm's business and operations, reporting to the Managing Partner and Management Committee. The role guides strategic planning, practice management and financial oversight to support a high-performing professional services firm.

The COO coordinates finance, HR, IT, facilities, marketing and risk management to ensure cost-effective, growth-oriented operations across the firm in Erie.

Responsibilities

• Financial Management: Prepares annual operating budget, analyses and reporting; manages 401(k)-plan administration and other financial functions.
• Human Resource Management: Oversees HR Manager; staffing, resource recommendations, performance evaluations, salary and benefits administration, disciplinary matters, and other HR functions.
• Systems Management: Oversees IT staff; systems analysis, audits, cost/benefit analysis, network infrastructure, information storage and software recommendations; document management and legal practice systems.
• Facilities Management: Space planning, purchasing, lease negotiations, records storage, telecommunications, HVAC, and building management matters.
• General Management: Manages firm insurance policies and other general functions; prepares agendas and attends meetings.
• Practice Management: Works with Recruiting Committee on recruiting lawyers, practice groups and attorney business plans, workload surveys, and other practice management functions.
• Marketing: Oversees Marketing Manager; assists with client development, website development, and enhancing visibility and image.
