Job summary

Mercy Connections in Burlington, VT seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization, expand opportunities, diversify funding, and strengthen community impact. The role reports to the Board of Trustees and will drive mission, growth, and inclusive engagement across programs and partners.

The Executive Director will supervise Program Directors and senior staff, steward resources, shape strategy, advance external relationships, and advocate for workforce development and community health

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in a relevant field.
• Significant leadership experience in a mission-driven nonprofit.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire public confidence and support.
• Strong fundraising, resource development and relationship-building.
• Commitment to anti-racism, gender equity, and cultural competency.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mercy Connections with strategic vision and mission fulfillment.
• Diversify funding resources and manage organizational growth.
• Oversee operations, programs, finances and personnel.
• Build partnerships with boards, funders and community stakeholders.
• Represent the organization publicly and advocate for policy priorities.
