Job summary

Spherion Fargo is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of a prominent local organization. In this high-impact role, you will oversee end-to-end financial activities—including strategic planning, budgeting, reporting, and audits—while mentoring a dedicated accounting team.

You will manage complex revenue streams, including charitable gaming operations, providing strategic vision and accounting leadership to drive long-term organizational growth.

Qualifications

• CPA designation desirable.
• Experience with nonprofit financial management preferred.
• Knowledge of governing nonprofit fiscal practices, tax and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise accounting staff and guide accounting functions.
• Prepare all monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, tax returns, and regulatory reports.
• Oversee accounting, leases, audits, 990 tax return and compliance functions.
• Lead organization-wide budgeting process with CEO across departments.
• Track restricted and grant-related giving and report to granters and funders.
• Manage payroll and HR-related benefits (insurance, 403(b), COBRA) with staff.
• Develop and maintain internal controls for transactions, receivables and payables.
