Job summary

Vermont Foodbank is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to guide financial operations in partnership with the CEO. This leadership role oversees accounting, reporting, audits, risk management, and investments for a growing nonprofit, ensuring program quality and financial integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; qualified for not-for-profit finance.
• Minimum 8+ years of collaborative leadership experience.
• Solid finance, accounting, budgeting, and compliance expertise in not-for-profit settings.
• Strong interpersonal and team skills with executive-level decision ability.
• Proficient in data analysis, forecasting, and not-for-profit financial reporting.
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the organization's annual budget in line with strategic priorities.
• Generate monthly financial reports for executives, finance committee, and the board.
• Oversee accounting, cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, banking, financial reporting, and investments.
• Coordinate year-end audits and single audits with minimal exceptions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and internal controls.
• Provide guidance on grants accounting and reporting for federal, state, and private grants.
