Job summary

Metglas in Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking a highly skilled MRO Buyer to oversee procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations materials for our amorphous steel ribbon facility. You will source specialized spares, manage obsolescence, and mitigate long lead times to ensure continuous 24/7 casting and winding operations.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years in industrial procurement, a technical background, and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in MRO procurement or industrial purchasing
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in supply chain, engineering, or related field
• Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical subassemblies and industrial automation components
• Proficient in ERP/CMMS systems and Excel for data analysis

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase specialized MRO materials including precision spares and components
• Process purchase orders, track deliveries and follow up on overdue receipts
• Proactively manage part obsolescence with engineering and operations
• Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure conformity
• Mitigate long lead times with proactive reorder points and VMI concepts
• Build and qualify alternative suppliers for critical components
• Monitor supplier performance metrics (OTD, price variance, accuracy)
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and EHS guidelines
