Job summary

Ernest is seeking a Merchandiser in Denver, CO, an on-site, full-time role focused on building vendor relationships, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and managing product lines with strong ownership and attention to detail.

You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Accounting to ensure quality solutions, competitive pricing, and exceptional service for customers. Strong communication and organization are essential as you manage pricing, lead times, and cost data in SAP.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of purchasing or procurement experience
• Experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on cost efficiency
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfort with an ERP system (SAP a plus)
• Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills
• Clear communication across departments
• Proactive mindset and team-focused attitude

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate new products based on quality, cost, and market trends
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors to negotiate pricing, lead times, and product availability
• Monitor market conditions, price fluctuations, and product changes for optimal buying decisions
• Manage inventory across Stock and JIT categories aligning with company targets
• Establish target selling prices for made-to-order and non-stock merchandise with internal stakeholders
• Set and update part numbers, costs, and pricing using SAP (or ERP) with accuracy
• Ensure all reporting and part number data are accurate and current
• Maintain and update product costing after vendor verification
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Accounting
• Process merchandise control requests and maintain records of quotes and changes
• Maintain open communication with suppliers regarding lead times and production status
• Provide insights to improve departmental systems and outcomes
