Job summary

7-Eleven in Irving, TX is seeking a Category Planner to drive financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis across assigned merchandise categories. You will partner with Category Managers and cross-functional teams to align assortment, pricing, and promotions with financial targets.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in retail planning and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, plus experience with AI tooling to support data-driven decision making. This role is based on-site in Texas.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in retail planning, merchandising, demand forecasting, inventory management, finance, or analytics.
• Experience with merchandise planning tools and previous category management preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and intermediate AI tools; able to make actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Develop monthly and annual category financial plans with Category Managers and cross-functional teams to hit sales and profit targets.
• Verify merchandise performance monthly and track progress toward annual financial goals.
• Build mid-month and end-of-month forecasts using historical data, trends, and cross-functional input.
• Provide reporting and insights by month, quarter, and year to support category teams and strategic decisions.
• Partner with Demand Chain to monitor inventory and supply needs, guiding forecasts for new items and promotions.
• Create executive-level reports/presentations detailing performance and strategy recommendations.
• Support merchandising with scenario planning and financial modeling for category plans.
• Offer insights for 1-5 year tactical and strategic category plans.
• Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
