Job summary

David is seeking a Merchandise Allocation Analyst to allocate inventory across stores for designated merchandise categories and maximize sales and inventory productivity. The role drives the execution of the product plan and store strategy.

The analyst will evaluate store sales, inventory levels, and trends to guide seasonal assortments and replenish­ment activities, leveraging replenishment software and data warehousing tools to optimize allocations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2-4 years of related experience in store planning and inventory management, or buying office experience.
• Softline experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cohesive allocation strategies across designated retail businesses.
• Analyze store category sales and inventory to position stock effectively and maximize sales.
• Communicate store inventory opportunities to cross-functional teams—buying, planning, store operations, and field management.
• Provide guidance on selling patterns, timing of future purchases, and purchasing philosophies.
• Understand and utilize Replenishment Systems, Allocations Systems, Access, and Data Warehouse applications.
• Maximize profit potential by analyzing inventory risks and opportunities and streamline merchandise flow.
• Determine and standardize allocation best practices.
• Manage new store opening assortment.
• Analyze store inventory issues and make appropriate stock-balancing recommendations.
