Refugees International seeks a dynamic Media and Communications Lead to elevate our media presence and advance advocacy worldwide from our Washington, DC office. This role sits on the Strategic Outreach team, translating policy issues into compelling narratives for media impact.

The ideal candidate will manage media inquiries, craft press materials, and coordinate digital content across platforms, with a focus on ethical storytelling and inclusive messaging.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong narrative instincts.
• Strong understanding of media trends and digital communications.
• Proven ability to pitch stories and secure coverage in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to distill complex information into accessible, compelling content for diverse audiences.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary point of contact for domestic, regional, and international media inquiries and pitches.
• Promote Refugees International's expertise to journalists and media outlets in the US and focus countries.
• Build and maintain relationships with press and media stakeholders.
• Draft and edit press releases, media advisories, quotes, talking points, op-eds, and statements.
• Organize media briefings for rapid response opportunities and campaigns.
• Track and analyze media coverage and engagement.
• Identify key journalists, outlets, and opportunities to advance priorities.
• Provide strategic press support for campaigns, reports, events, and external engagement.
