Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company in Moorpark, CA seeks a Material Planner to lead the flow of materials from supplier to production and shipment. The role reports to the Material Planning Supervisor and requires strong ERP/MRP skills.

You will manage inventory, coordinate shop orders, monitor cycle counts, and collaborate across functions to ensure on-time delivery for contracts, with salary between $65,000 and $90,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Materials Management, Logistics, and Planning.
• Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
• Ability to view high level risks and impacts from material planning decisions.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with adaptability to changing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across levels and cross-functional groups.
• Understanding of configuration management, supply chain, material control, manufacturing, and shipping processes.
• Experience with Import/Export requirements and international shipping.
• LEAN Manufacturing concept implementation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews supply and demand within ERP to ensure timely availability of production materials to meet contract requirements.
• Effectively manages raw material receipt, inventory and distribution including finished goods movement and shipment to customers.
• Maintains accurate and timely records of inventory movements and transactions including Customer Furnished Property.
• Establishes material requirements and requisitions materials to assure on time delivery to production.
• Allocates existing inventory and creates planned shop orders in ERP for procurement of material.
• Ensures demand is generated properly for all materials.
• Coordinates with Material Control for timely release of Shop Order and material kits based upon production demand.
• Issues all shop floor point of use materials and reports production in ERP.
• Arranges shipments, creates packing slip, and performs logistical liaison functions.
• Interfaces with other functions to monitor material flow and work prioritization from customer order receipt to project close out.
• Supports cycle counts and physical inventory audits including root cause analysis and corrective actions for inventory inaccuracies.
• Participates in Continuous Improvement and Kaizen activities.
• Leads, creates and energizes positive change; initiates investigation to resolve problems impacting shipments.
• Trains other departments on inventory best practices and cycle counting.
