Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Corporate Development Director in Denver to lead high‑impact acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. You will drive valuation, due diligence, and risk assessment, coordinating cross‑functional teams to support strategic investments and regulatory approvals.

You will build investment cases, mentor staff, and ensure execution of portfolio plans while aligning with company objectives and financial performance. Colorado-based, occasional travel required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical or financial field required; MBA preferred.
• Ten years’ experience in acquisitions and divestitures, or equivalent corporate development experience.
• Demonstrated skilled negotiator.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated financial analysis and modeling capability.
• Deep knowledge of transaction-related tax, accounting, legal, and human resource issues.
• Capable of integrating technical and business judgment.
• Ability to work well within a team, and to successfully lead and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Experience in, or extensive knowledge of, an energy related field.
• Must be available to work additional hours. Overnight travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead Corporate Development strategies and negotiate multiple large, complex transactions.
• Coordinate and conduct financial valuations and due diligence reviews.
• Develop investment strategies and business cases for new opportunities.
• Support portfolio strategy, screening, and prioritization processes.
• Prepare materials for senior leadership and Board approvals.
• Coordinate regulatory approvals and train team members.
