Job summary

Selby Jennings invites a Vice President to lead corporate finance and investment banking engagements in a dynamic Chicago office. You will oversee due diligence, run complex financial analyses, and guide client discussions through every transaction stage.

You will drive marketing, valuations, and deal structuring while mentoring junior team members and collaborating with senior leadership across diverse industries.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in finance, economics, or accounting.
• 6+ years of investment banking experience with a well-regarded firm (M&A, leveraged finance, F.S., restructuring, and/or debt capital markets).
• Strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of corporate finance theory.
• Advanced financial/cash flow modeling expertise (LBO, accretion/dilution, pro forma synergy analysis).
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong grasp of valuation theory, methodologies, and practical application.
• Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting directly to clients.
• Highly detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality work product.
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead due diligence efforts, client communication on active engagements, and represent the firm in client and advisor meetings.
• Drive corporate marketing initiatives, including pitch and proposal development, prospect research, and sales presentations.
• Own the full transaction execution lifecycle:
• Lead due diligence workstreams and oversee detailed financial analyses.
• Direct company valuations and evaluate transaction structuring alternatives.
• Oversee preparation of client-facing materials, including pitch decks and confidential information memoranda.
• Partner directly with senior leadership across a range of industries and complex transactions.
• Manage multiple concurrent engagements with high autonomy, with a clear path toward generating and independently executing transactions.
• Mentor and develop junior team members, and contribute to broader firm-wide initiatives.
