Job summary

City of Fort Worth is seeking a Senior Planner for Long-Range Planning in the Planning Division. The role supports the Comprehensive Plan, transit-oriented and neighborhood plans, and data-driven analyses to guide growth and development.

The position emphasizes GIS, data analytics, and high-quality plan delivery, with collaboration across City departments and stakeholders. A master’s degree is preferred, with substantial experience in long-range planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field as a requirement.
• Five years of experience in planning, urban design, or a related field.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
• Master’s degree in urban/ regional planning or related field is preferred.
• Experience in long-range city planning, GIS, and municipal data analytics is a plus.
• Strong writing, graphic layout, GIS map creation, and project management skills are expected.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and update the City’s Comprehensive Plan and area plans.
• Conduct GIS and data analytics projects, including growth scenarios and ROI analyses.
• Analyze land use, environmental, and transportation data for plans.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop corridor and neighborhood plans.
• Manage consultant contracts and public participation for plans.
• Produce high-quality plans, reports, and maps with clear graphics and writing.
