The Executive Office of Health and Human Services, Legal Division, is seeking a Deputy Chief of Legal Services to lead a staff of attorneys and support personnel. You will assist a superior, participate in policy formulation, and serve as legislative liaison to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes.

Responsibilities include directing legal services, monitoring legislation, analyzing legal impacts, and representing the department in court. Rhode Island bar membership is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited Law School.
• Experience: Employment in a responsible supervisory position within a legal services program.
• Preferred: demonstrated litigation experience in municipal Probate courts and Superior Court.

Responsabilités

• Assist a superior in directing a staff of attorneys and support personnel.
• Participate in formulation of overall policy and draft policy statements.
• Perform legislative liaison functions to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes.
• Monitor state and federal legislation affecting department programs.
• Represent the department in cases before federal and state courts.
