Job summary

The County of Sacramento seeks an executive-directed Human Services Division Manager to plan, coordinate and administer a division with multiple program sections in social, health, or community services, or financial assistance; performs related work. This role reports to the Employment Services Division in the Department of Personnel Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in management or related field; master's preferred.
• Two years of managerial experience in human services.
• Experience developing goals, policies and internal controls.
• Ability to supervise a large staff and provide training.
• Knowledge of budget development and administration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate and administer a comprehensive human services division with large programs.
• Select, motivate and manage a large staff and provide training and professional development.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards and internal controls for the division.
• Analyze complex administrative and regulatory problems, evaluate alternatives and take effective action.
• Prepare clear reports, correspondence and presentations.
• Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with contacts.
