Job summary

The Houston Symphony seeks a Senior Director of Development, Individual Giving, to lead the donor strategy and a nine-person team within the Development department. This role reports to the Chief Development Officer and drives major gifts, endowment campaigns, and donor stewardship in support of the organization’s goals.

The position requires 7+ years in fundraising, with a proven track record of six- and seven-figure gifts and staff leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible fundraising experience with success in individual giving.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the individual giving team.
• Develop and implement a long-term major gifts strategy and donor pipeline.
• Personally manage a portfolio of top donors and prospects, soliciting six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Plan and execute a major endowment campaign with the Board and senior leadership.
• Coach team members on donor portfolio development and moves management.
• Develop stewardship strategies to deepen donor engagement and multi-year giving.
• Collaborate with Board President, CEO and Chief Development Officer on priorities.
• Build data tools and reports with Development Operations/IT to track portfolio performance.
